DIGITAL WOMB COLLECTIVE.
This collective is very dear to me and kind of interesting: why? :: because I was pregnant when it began, and I was alone, except I had my baby. So I started a collective of just me & her, a pregnant mom & artist and her child, in the womb…. I worked on a few activist campaigns w the collective: Save The USPS!!! (when the Trump administration was attempting to end the USPS) I organized protests across Brooklyn where we marched collectively to the post office to mail letters/ love letters/ & post cards to friends family and lovers, as a way to raise money and awareness through stamp sales. The second campaign was w the MORE collective a local collective of Brooklyn Teachers organizing (w youth as well) to protect teachers and students in pre K- high school from Covid-19 (centering anti-racism and health equity). You can find those videos under “activism”. And lastly I made portraits of folks effected by police brutality and posted info on how to get them funds and care as well as where, how, and w whom to protest w. The video below is a sample video of the Save the USPS!!! campaign. The focus of these actions was to create your own post cards and have pen pals across the country.
its just the story of a post card: and the resounding life of the post office// poney express:::
I made the original musical score for this piece… all of the imagery is pre-made and appropriated… they are basically stock imagery. I edited them together and created the animation…some parts were already in motion…I see the process of appropriated 3D imagery and animated stock footage as a process in line w Andy Warhols practice, which is something I am studying
ongoing…
